New Community Self-Help Scheme to Tidy Up Badwell Ash and Long Thurlow
Badwell Ash and Long Thurlow residents are being urged to volunteer for a new Community Self-Help Scheme aimed at improving the parish's appearance and safety.
The initiative, which is supported by Suffolk Highways, launches soon and is designed to tackle various maintenance tasks around the villages.
By the end of November, the scheme will have three qualified volunteer Highways Rangers in place. These rangers will be responsible for supervising community volunteers on a range of essential jobs, including:
- Clearing overgrown footpaths and verges.
- Cleaning and ensuring road signs are visible.
- Grass cutting and weed clearance.
- Trimming hedges and pruning trees.
- Cleaning around gullies.
- Painting street furniture.
The Parish Council is now actively seeking volunteers to join the scheme. This is a direct opportunity for residents to make a tangible difference in their local area, working alongside the new Highways Rangers team.
How to get Involved
Residents interested in becoming a community volunteer are asked to contact the Parish Clerk by emailing:
More formal sign-up details will be released in the coming month.
