Badwell Ash is reminding residents to make sure they are registered to vote and have an accepted form of photo id ready to show if voting in person at a polling station in this year's local elections.
The UK Government has introduced the requirement for voters to show photo id when voting at a polling station at some elections and will apply for the first time in England at the polls on Thursday May 4.
The new legislation does not apply to residents who vote by post or proxy, with both forms of these voting methods verified in other ways.
Forms of acceptable photo id which can be used to vote with include:
Passport
Driving Licence (including provisional licence)
Blue Badge
Certain concessionary travel cards
Identity Card with PASS mark
Biometric immigration document
Defence identity card
Certain national identity cards
