Most of the photographs on these pages of the modern parish are (c) Sarah Brown, some (c) Michael Frayn. Margaret Symonds, a retired Badwell Ash recorder, provided many of the early photographs.
Every effort has been made to give credit wherever there is a possibility of copyright of any images. If any person feels a copyright they hold has been infringed, please contact the webmaster to enable the appropriate action to be taken.
Re World War Pages: Credit is given to any images sourced from the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website, www.cwgc.org. Several other photographs are credited to www.ww1cemeteries.com and also to Pierre Vandervelden and his site www.inmemories.com . The photographs that came from these websites should not be used for any commercial purpose. Photographs of a casualty's actual headstone can usually be obtained from: www.twgpp.org The War Graves Photographic Project are attempting to amass photographs of ALL war graves throughout the world, regardless of nationality. Currently (2014) they ask for a donation of £3.50 for each emailed photograph or £5.50 for a posted 7”x3” photograph. These are higher definition images and vastly superior in every way to copying any from this website.
For the benefit of others, should any reader have further information of those herein, or extra photographs or better photographs, please let the webmaster know in order that these records can be updated.
Every effort is made to ensure that information on this website is accurate. If you know of any inaccuracies, feel a copyright is infringed, or would like to contribute to the website please contact the webmaster.
Most of the articles on this website were written by Sarah Brown. Some were initiated by Michael Frayn, who started the website and began some initial historical research.
Roy le Grice has written several articles and is credited by them.
Retired recorder Margaret Symonds provided some of the 20th Century information, both from memory and from scrapbooks about the village that she collated. There is also a copy of the piece she contributed to for the Badwell Broadsheet about ghosts on this site.
The Parish Council is responsible for the information on their pages.
Re World War Pages: Tony Pringle, self-styled 'Tobacco Pipe Collector, War Memorial Researcher, Retired professional drinker and Grumpy Old Man,' researched and wrote the pages about the WWI and WWII fallen. He writes: 'Such was the nature of life in those days that one should be circumspect regarding all dates and ages, which can vary wildly from source to source. "RAF Bomber Command Losses of the Second World War" by W R Chorley (Ian Allan Publishing) has been a source of much information, and several internet forums such as www.rafcommands.com and http://1914-1918.invisionzone.com/forums have helped. Often the start of the discovery line regarding the Somme is "tracing British Battalions on the Somme" by Ray Westlake, published by Pen and Sword. Hyper links have been placed to enable all casualties records on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission Debt of Honour to be accessed. This will enable access to more details regarding the Cemetery or Memorial mentioned.'
Donia Stick and Julie Evans have contributed to the historical research.
Thanks to all.
